Best Tubing In Harpers Ferry

Best Tubing In Harpers Ferry – Ever since I moved to Maryland, my colleagues have told me about this beautiful little town in West Virginia. Only 1 hour 15 minutes from Washington. The town is historically part of Harpers Ferry National Park and the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. There are many activities including tubing, hiking, fishing, swimming, rafting, zip lining and biking. Ideal for nature lovers.

There are several hiking trails in the park, beginning in the middle of the Appalachian National Scenic Byway. We chose the most famous Maryland Heights trail for its spectacular views.

If you want to go that way, come early because there is limited parking at the entrance to the road (10-12 spaces) or you will have to park across the river in the lower town and then walk.

As the name suggests, the trial takes place on one side of a park in Maryland. You have two paths to choose from: the blue path (long) and the red path (short). We follow the red trail, which is 4.5 miles long and takes about 2 hours to hike.

It’s a nice walk through the forest, but be prepared for a good walk. The trail is steep (climbing 1,600 feet) and depending on your speed, the climb will take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour. The review can be busy from time to time. So if you want to take some cool photos, look to your left and you will see a small path, follow it and you will reach another point where no one else can go.

If you come on a hot summer day like me, bring plenty of water and some extra clothes to reward yourself with a nice cool down at the river. I was sweating so hard that I could open my shirt.

I’d say the tubing is the main attraction of Harper’s Ferry, at least in the warmer months. To be honest, I saw more people swimming in the river than walking around the city. You can enjoy various water sports like tubing, boating and rafting.

Thinking the white water was too rough, we boarded the shallow water and decided to go down the river and relax. But after watching the river, it wasn’t like that. There are two pipe types:

There are three companies that offer tubing and rafting: River Riders, River and Trail Outfitters, and Harper’s Ferry Adventures. We found Harper’s Ferry Adventure to be the cheapest. If you have your own tube, you can bring it with you to save money. They also rent floating coolers if you want to bring drinks to keep cool. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited

Many historical sites, restaurants and shops are located here. It’s great to see people dressed up like soldiers and other people of that era. It’s also good to eat after a walk or tube. If you have a sweet tooth, check out True Treats Historic Candy, where you can find candy dating back to the mid-1900s for the first time.

We had lunch at the coffee factory, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Oh, and don’t forget to grab one of the cinnamon rolls to go. They must die!

There are several recreation areas in the area: Harper’s Wharf, Harper’s Wharf Adventure Center, and KOA Harper’s Wharf/Civil War Battlefields. At Harper’s Ferry Campground, page 37. To be honest, at $36 a night, it’s not the most expensive and the best campground. When we got to the place we were disappointed because it was dirty all around and needed to be repaired. The view of the river and mountains is simply stunning.

Watching the sunrise on a private jet ski is a must. The other tent sites overlooking the river were in good condition, but too close in my opinion. As for the bathrooms, they have AC, hot water and are in good condition.

Helpful tip: Trains run several times throughout the night and the tracks are 30 meters from the campsite. The roar is so loud that even the ground shakes a little.

Tubing behind the Potomac River, the 85-degree sun warming my hands and feet, I had something to shout to my husband, who, with a calm smile on his face, easily sheltered in the light current, meters away, “How did you like this Monday?”

He took a long weekend to celebrate his birthday, and on this wonderful Monday, just before Labor Day, my family of four enjoyed the entire Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. During the 6-kilometer, 3-hour white water tubing, the only people waving at us were from the top of the footbridge that crossed the river.

As summer approaches, it would be wise to postpone such hot weather events. But what I learned from a wonderful Monday whitewater rafting trip courtesy of Harpers Ferry Adventures Center is that there’s no better time than when nobody’s going.
