Kids News: When did you start making cubes? Jack: I first picked up a Rubik’s Cube about 6 years ago, I didn’t think I could even solve one half.

How did you learn to solve it? I learned how to solve this through a YouTube tutorial recommended by a high school friend of mine (that’s how I met him).

How much do you practice? I think I did a lot of cubing in my free time in high school, so it fluctuated a lot, but maybe 1-3 hours. I think I’ve done the same amount in a day this year, but with the Rubik’s Cube World Championship coming up, a little more than usual lately.

But I think I especially like it because of the community, which is quite friendly and welcoming (and also quite global). Both, in addition to personal bests and race records, make me feel happy and satisfied.

What advice can you give to kids who want to be Rubik’s masters? Many hours of consistent*, deliberate* practice.
