The Kantipur Temple is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Kathmandu in the Thamel area and 10 minutes away from Durbar Square. Surrounded by gardens and plantations, the unique Nepali architecture and decoration of the house and rooms will put you in the spirit of Nepal instantly. .
They work on a “no plastic philosophy” and clean drinking water is provided to guests in every room. The showers are provided by solar hot water and they avoid changing towels or sheets every day (unless necessary) to save water. They also create jobs by employing people who live in the community. Although power outages are common in Nepal, the Kantipur Temple is one of the first hotels in Nepal to use clean energy for its daily operations, using solar power instead of diesel engines.
The WiFi here is the best I’ve had in my entire time in Nepal because they have many networks that you can connect to if one is smart. Also, this was the only place I stayed that didn’t have air conditioning, but they provided fans and I used a fan. Most of the rooms are open to the courtyard so that the sun does not enter directly through the window, and it looks nice in the rooms. Take advantage of daily yoga classes outside on the lawn for a fresh start in the morning. Rates start at $63/night!
