Suncadia Resort is an easy getaway to the Puget Sound area. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Seattle and has multiple pools throughout the property (indoor and outdoor), an aromatherapy steam room, and a cedar sauna. They also have hot tubs and there is a spa with natural hot springs that you can use (you have to pay a daily fee to access the hot springs, but access to the pool is included in the hotel stay). The waterslides are generally open on weekends, so be sure to check their schedule if using the waterslides is important to you!

This is one of our top picks because the resort is close enough to get there quickly, but far enough away to feel like you’ve gotten away. It also has plenty of swimming in the summer and great indoor options in the winter. You can read our full review of Visit Suncadia here.

We also visited Suncadia last winter and they have their outdoor pool heated to 97 degrees. The kids loved it. I’m not sure if they’ll do it again this year, but it was a cool winter vacation if they did (you can also read our review of Taking a Winter Vacation in Suncadia here ).

Luxury Santa Monica Hotel

I have stayed at this hotel several times now with my children and we came to the pool. My girls love the water themed pool. I like that the atrium style room is warm and there are many beds and tables (with internet access). You can also order food here. This makes it a great place for the kids to enjoy the pool and for me to keep an eye on them and be able to freely visit or work while they play (when I’m not in the pool or hot tub with them)!

Tulalip Resort is a hotel + casino, but you can check into the hotel and never into the casino (unless you want to eat at one of the restaurants there, but there are options outside the casino). This is a full size hotel, so you can go to the back and enjoy everything without going to the resort (restaurant, pool area, cafe, gift shops and more). In addition, it is also close to a grocery store if you want to go shopping.

Not only is this a great pool if you are a hotel guest, but this pool is open to the public! Hotel guests and Bothell residents can use it for free. Non-Bothel residents can use $6 (youth) and $8 (seniors). You can watch movies in their theater (most of them are free), eat in their restaurant and enjoy their facilities. This option would be as good to enjoy as a day trip, as it would be to stay the night!

Hotel Destinations With Pools

The Red Lion Inn on Federal Way is a very affordable family option. We’ve seen them from other classifieds sites for around $70 a night. The hotel is right off I-5 or Hwy 18 on Federal Way (near the Walmart parking lot). You might not think much of the place, but they recently added a slide, splash pad and playground near the Red Lion and recently changed it to only be accessible to hotel guests. Breakfast is also included in the room price.

There are many restaurants in the area (Jimmy Max Roadhouse is one of our favorites, and it’s just down the street – or Fat Burgers). It’s also close to the Wild Waves and Enchanted Village theme parks, if you want to plan your stay around one of their special days!

(Leaders tip: One TNWM student said kids should take a swim test before using the slides and no life jackets are allowed in the pool)

My mother (my children’s grandmother) recommended the Clearwater Casino Resort Zero Entry pool. She has planned to stay here with her grandchildren and assures me that it is a beautiful place. Like the Tulalip, this hotel has a casino next door, but you can access all of the hotel’s amenities without entering the casino. Sometimes hotels with casinos offer great deals, so they can be a family-friendly option—even if they don’t seem like the obvious choice. Most of them do a very good job of separating the casino activities, so those who just want to enjoy the hotel can do so.

Amazing Outdoor Hotel Pools For Summer

It is located in the water, so children can enjoy the beach. It’s on the Kitsap Peninsula, so there are plenty of day trip opportunities for the family to explore too!

If you are in the eastern part of the country, the Ramada hotel at the airport has a waterfall pool that families can enjoy. It’s a mid-range hotel, so it’s more affordable, but it’s great for kids to enjoy.

I like the pool, because it is good for children and adults, but also because the resort itself has a lot to do for both couples and families (such as many restaurants, children’s playground, theater and more). We share more about the hotel here.
