Vancouver, like Seattle, is one of the most beautiful cities in North America with a sleek modern city center set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountain peaks. And Vancouver’s farm-to-table food culture has spawned a thriving restaurant and food truck serving fresh local ingredients, wine and cider sourced from the nearby Okanagan Valley.

The outdoor areas are the real star of the city, with parks, parks and outdoor areas to explore in every corner. The best, of course, is Stanley Park, which boasts more than 1,000 acres of forest and gardens, an aquarium, and First Nation totem poles. A quick note before we get to the good stuff – downtown Vancouver is divided into several sub-neighbors, each with a unique vibe, so saying “live in downtown Vancouver” isn’t going to help you find the right place. Find accommodation. your taste

To do that, you have to go a little deeper, and that’s what I’m going to do.

Two sections of downtown corridors make the list – read on to discover the best areas to live in Vancouver.

Gastown is the oldest part of downtown Vancouver, with cobbled streets and a slightly chilled but airy atmosphere. Filled with young professionals, there is a fantastic nightlife with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Spend A Day In These Six Trendy Vancouver Neighborhoods

My favorites are Nuba Gastown for Lebanese food, and Heather’s Irish for happy hour and friendly bartenders. Many also offer happy hour deals, so be sure to arrive early to take advantage of them.

As you will be close to the main lines in the city centre, you will find many art galleries, museums, cafes and shops, and the main train station is also located here. If you are looking for a central home base from which to explore the city with a great selection of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and more, this is the place to stay in Vancouver.

Gastown is a relatively small area and not many places to stay. Especially when it comes to hotels – you only have a few options.

In Gastown, Airbnb is king. We have stayed at this quirky barn in the middle of Gastown and it was amazing.

Top Rated Attractions & Things To Do In Vancouver, Bc

Victoria Hotel is Gastown’s boutique choice, housed in a former Victorian townhouse dating back to 1898. There are just 47 rooms, each tastefully decorated with Victorian furnishings and original hardwood floors. Some rooms are en-suite, while others have a shared bathroom, making this a great place to stay on any budget and style. Make sure you pay more attention when ordering to choose the option that suits your preferences. The on-site restaurant, Autostrada Osteria, is Italian-inspired and looks like a small Italian cafe. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Steam Clock and only 4 blocks from the Waterfront Skytrain.

Rustic yet modern, SkwachàysLodge has just 18 rooms, each decorated by a native from the Pacific coast. Each room is its own art installation, with no two rooms being decorated the same, which is a really cool feature. Many pieces feature images of eagles, bears and other elements of nature celebrating British Columbia’s dramatic natural beauty. The hotel is a strong supporter of local artists, musicians and actors, hosting gallery spaces and events to showcase local talent. Location wise, ShwachàysLodge is perfect for exploring the city. It’s just around the corner from the shooting locations of some famous movies and TV series.

Located in the heart of Gastown, this 1906 barn conversion is a wonderful place to stay while exploring Vancouver. In fact, we stayed here on New Year’s Eve on our last trip and it was a great place. With exposed brick and wood beams, this room combines antiques with classy and stylish furniture to create a truly unique space. The 16-foot high ceilings and open concept have the feel of a spacious and airy apartment. This is a great choice for couples who want to have everything to themselves, including a deep soaking tub to relax in at the end of the day. A full kitchen is available to guests, and there is even a barbecue in the common courtyard.

Yaletown is a luxurious neighborhood in downtown Vancouver. Here you’ll find elegant shops, luxury hotels, trendy restaurants and cafes, and more yoga and green juice classes than you can imagine. This is the best area to see celebrities and also the best area to stay if you like art as there are many galleries to explore. It’s also a great area for families – safe, downtown and walkable. We stayed at Yaletown together on our first trip to Vancouver for Alisha’s birthday and it was a solid base from which to explore the city.

Looking at this beautiful environment today, you might not guess that it was once an industrial area. Yaletown is the place to stay in Vancouver for those who like a little peace and quiet and a little luxury, but still want to be downtown.

Yaletown has many bars, restaurants and is home to the Vancouver Whitecaps, the city’s Major League Soccer team. Here are some highlights of the neighborhood.

Yaletown is a good place for hotels and Airbnb, unlike Gastown, which leans heavily toward the latter. Here are three great options for your stay in Yaletown.

Hostel Samesun is all about location. It’s right on the northwest edge of Yaletown, very close to downtown Vancouver. These rooms feature a mix of 4, 6, and 8-bed dormitories, and each room configuration is female only. The hotel also has private rooms with a choice of private or shared bathrooms. Breakfast is included in all fares, and if Vancouver is part of a larger tour, there is a shared kitchen and laundry room on site. The best thing about this hostel is the activities held at the Beaver Bar. They organize everything from sports trivia to bingo, so guests can meet new people. The staff are also very helpful, offering recommendations for places to eat and activities, and can help arrange activities or rent bikes for guests.

Times Square Suites

The Opus Hotel is in the middle of everything that is happening in Yaletown and is the perfect place to stay for many visitors to Vancouver. Not only is it minutes from the ocean and a network of hiking trails, but the hotel interior is a destination in itself. The hotel uses a bold design with bright colors, eye-catching prints and beautiful artwork to perfect it and market itself as a fashionista destination. Regardless of the type of room you book, there are luxuries like Malin & Goetez bed linen and bath products. Some types of rooms go further with heated bathroom tiles, deep bathtubs and fireplaces.

While staying here, be sure to visit the Opus Bar where celebrity sightings are a real possibility. Famous people who enjoy this bar include Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. This is the best place to stay in Vancouver for people who love luxury.

Rosedale on Robson is an all-suite hotel offering 1 or 2 bedroom suites.
