America’s Best In Lincoln Park

America’s Best In Lincoln Park – Chicago may be known for its beautiful architecture and towering skyscrapers, but that doesn’t mean the Windy City isn’t short on greenery.

When the city of Chicago was incorporated in 1837, it adopted the Latin expression “Urbs in Horto,” meaning “city in a garden.” Over 8,000 acres of urban manicured parkland, there are many outdoor areas to explore during your visit.

Chicago’s Millennium Park Museum is a collection of free attractions. There’s the Pritzker Pavilion, Frank Gehry’s floating silver shell, which hosts free concerts every week during the summer; Anish Kapoor’s beloved film Cloud Gate aka The Bean; and Jaume Plensa’s Crown Fountain, a de facto water park that projects gargoyle-style video footage of residents spitting water.

The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink is packed with ice skaters in the winter (and outdoor dining in the summer). The Lurie Secret Garden blooms with prairie flowers and serenity. The Gehry-designed BP Bridge spans Columbus Drive and offers spectacular skyline views, while the Nichols Bridgeway spans the park to the third-floor sculpture terrace of the Art Institute of Chicago, where viewing is free.

Free yoga and Pilates classes are held on the Great Lawn on Saturday mornings during the summer, while the Family Fun Tent offers daily activities for kids during the summer.

Lincoln Park is named after the neighborhood and is the largest park in Chicago. Its 1,200 acres stretch 6 miles from North Street to the Diversey Parkway where it narrows at the lake and continues to the end of Lake Shore Drive.
